Reflective Essay
At ACLC, I have learned how to
effectively plan my work schedule. I
have learned that work comes first before playing around. Things like free periods, planners, and
facilitators have helped me manage my daily schedule. I have learned how to organize myself so I
can become successful now and for the future.
I have learned to manage my time with free periods because they helped
me realize that I can do work during my free periods and I can get my work done
early and spend the rest of the day however I want it to be. Before, I wasn’t completely organized as a
person, but attending ACLC has helped me become much more organized.
Every year I took on new and interesting classes at ACLC. I took on harder classes every grade. And every year, I manage to pass those classes and meet the graduation requirements. After the classes I have taken over the years, I have gained new knowledge in every single class. I have gained lots of knowledge over the years and I feel like I can use that knowledge to certain real life situations. During my time in high school, I have met most of the requirements to go to college. For UC’s, they require me to take certain courses for a certain amount of years and I have done that. The only requirements I need to finish are the ones I need to finish in my senior year.
At ACLC, I have learned new learning techniques and have applied those techniques to my skills. The facilitators have taught all sorts of techniques like how to do deal with certain problems in a certain way. For example, in geometry Carlton taught us a technique to remember Sin, Cosine, and tangent. He taught us phrases in order to remember Sin, Cosine, and tangent. ACLC has also taught me how to plan my future. The facilitators have helped me over the years to prepare for my future and them helping me out has influenced me to plan out my future.
Every year, there have always been group projects that I had to be involved in. Those group projects have really helped me out with working with other. The group projects helped me because in the future, I know that I’ll need to work with others and I’ll need to get along with them. ACLC provides a lot of group projects and these group projects have taught me how to work with others. I have learned how to cooperate with others, how to contribute to a group, and so much more. An example was when I had to work on a roller coaster project with three other people. We had about a month to complete the project and it took all of our skills to complete the project. With this project, I had to get along with my group members or else we would have failed this project.
If ACLC were to be known for one thing, it would have to be the technology. ACLC is filled with technology such as computers. I have learned how to use the technology to my good use. I have used technology to make my life one hundred times easier. I have made my life easier with the technology at ACLC by using it for homework. I have used the ACLC computers to help me with all sorts of things and I have learned how to use technology effectively. An example of how the technology helped me was when I needed to get a paper done the next day and I had computer problems at home. If it wasn't for the technology at school, I wouldn't have turned in my paper.
